Oh My Gosh

I haven't blogged in six days! What am I going to do with myself? Well, I'm here this morning to tell you that I am still alive :] There's a problem where I'm was addicted to The Sims 2 for very lengthy times... It's bad. I decided to check inkpop and my blog before I started up the game. ha ha

Actually, I can't play my sims game today. I must go shopping! You see, I leave for drum major/color guard camp tomorrow morning and I'm really behind on packing. Mainly because I have nothing to pack. Today will be all about buying sports bras and sunscreen and washing socks. This doesn't mean that I'm lethargic about camp, no, I'm in fact really excited! I've never been more excited for anything. This camp is one for the best of the best and I'm really looking forward to working with a complete band of people who want to do drill and are at a much higher skill level. I'll get the chance to learn knew things and have a great time doing it. I'm allowed to bring a laptop but I'm not sure if I will. All depends. If I do, I'll try to post about my days there. SO pumped!

Funny story about getting ready for camp: I lost my rifle gloves. Yeah. I think they're in the pocket of my army jumpsuit from the show last fall. I was in my uniform for the whole day for both Ford Field then the playoff football game and I must have put them in there. Well, I was cleaning out the color guard room, putting things into boxes to be moved to the new school, and I placed all of the uniforms from last year in a box. I scribbled color guard room on the side and shipped it off. I thought that all boxes for the band room would go to the band barn where we keep all the props but only the small boxes went. The big boxes are on the truck. I searched for an hour after practice on Thursday looking for these gloves and finally settled from some ancient pair from the guard about twenty years ago. They're gross and sticky but my hands will not be bruised all the way around, palm to backhand.

Not only do I have camp getting me back into the color guard swing but my team had their first practice of the season not yesterday but the day before. It was a blast working with the new coach, he has a lot of fantastic ideas and a great attitude about working with us. The show is an amazing concept and sounds like a lot of fun. Just imagine what you could do with route 66 for a marching band... I can't tell you much about it until at least our first show but I can tell you that it is just incredible how well this is coming together. I'm really excited for the season but I always am so that doesn't mean much. Can't wait to keep working on this and hopefully it will be a great season. Ford Field here we come!

On a not color guard/marching band note, yesterday was my little sister's first date! Yeah, the fourth child and still has a date before the rest of us. Wonderful! Anyway, we totally had a Cheaper by the Dozen 2 moment. I was doing her hair all nice a sleek, makeup was fun (I had to explain to her that foundation was not makeup remover...), and I even picked out a cute outfit for her and did her nails. She looked so pretty! I was not happy, however, that no one told me that the North End was hosting Cruise Night (a moving car show for everyone in the area) and the entire one street was backed up! I was stuck behind a clown car with a musical horn screaming, "SAVE ME!" I wanted to run people over but the cops were sitting in the turning lanes. In all seriousness, I had to call my best friend and told him if he didn't keep me calm, I was gonna start road rage with the monster truck in front of me. Never in my life have I seen so much traffic. What is normally a half hour drive took me an hour and twenty minutes plus a quarter tank of gas. Splendid! Let me tell you, I enjoyed that sooo much.

Well, that's all I have for now. I have to start getting ready for camp. If packing is anything like finding my rifle gloves, I have my work cut out for me and I'll be sleeping on my way to Mount Pleasant tomorrow.
